Süd-Eis GmbH & Co. KG continues to grow and is investing around €10 million in new production capacities in Bad Iburg. The former Teutoburger sausage factory is being converted into a modern site for ice cream production. The project is also being supported with GRW funding from the German federal government and the state of Lower Saxony.
Modern production and storage facilities are being built on an area of around 11,000 square meters. The site will be complemented by a new cold storage warehouse to ensure optimal storage and efficient logistics. By consolidating production, transportation will be reduced, resulting in annual CO₂ savings of approximately 150 tons.
Süd-Eis is also setting clear priorities when it comes to energy. A photovoltaic system will cover around 30 percent of the future energy demand. In addition, energy-efficient cooling technology, heat recovery systems, and modern heat pumps will be used.
At the same time, the new Süd-Eis plant strengthens the region and creates around 100 jobs. By the end of 2027, approximately 40 employees from other locations are expected to transfer to Bad Iburg.
